The Wilma Dykeman “Faces of Appalachia” Post-doctoral Research Fellowship, which now provides $3,000 to support research related to gender, race, and/or ethnicity in Appalachia, is accepting proposals. The research will be conducted during the 2018-2019 academic year and presented at the 2019 conference at your own expense. Members of the Appalachian Studies Association who have earned a doctoral degree from an accredited institution within the past seven years are eligible to apply. I loved reading about the Wilma Dykeman Fellowship! It feels so important to uplift diverse Appalachian voices. Important fellowship opportunity that connects scholarship with meaningful questions about gender, race, and ethnicity in Appalachia. Supporting post-doctoral research helps preserve and deepen understanding of the region’s diverse communities and histories.
