Submission to the Journal
Current Issue

Journal Home

The Journal will consider serious scholarship from any discipline which analyzes the history, culture, or society of the Appalachian region. Submissions must be written in a style that can be understood by intelligent non-specialists. Two hard copies of the manuscript, typed double-spaced, should be submitted. Manuscripts need not follow the Journal's format; however, once accepted for publication, manuscripts must be typed according to the Journal's specifications and submitted electronically, preferably as a Word document. In a cover letter, authors should verify that the manuscript has not been published and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere. Authors with e-mail access who would like immediate confirmation that their manuscripts have been received should include their email addresses.

Guidelines for Manuscript Submissions

Submit two copies of your manuscript on standard 8-1/2" x 11" paper, one-sided and double-spaced. Submitted manuscripts need not follow the Journal's format for references, notes, etc.; however, once accepted for publication, manuscripts must be typed according to the Journal's specifications. Do not submit an electronic version or computer disk until your manuscript has been accepted for publication.... READ ALL GUIDELINES in our Acrobat PDF document (13K).
